Batman Arkham Asylum developer purchased by Warner Bros.

The critical and sales hit Batman Arkham Asylum put its UK-based development team Rocksteady Studios on the map in 2009. Today the game's co-publisher Warner Bros. announced that they have purchased a majority interest in Rocksteady even as the team is working on a sequel to Batman Arkham Asylum. Specific financial terms were not disclosed.

Formed in 2004, Rocksteady's only previous game was the underwhelming 2006 console action game Urban Chaos: Riot Response. However the team shocked the development community last year with the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum, an action game that both looked and played well and was not only the best Batman-based game ever made but one of the best games of 2009. Rocksteady is working on a sequel but details and a release date were not announced.
