Civilization V announced

It's not exactly a shock but it's certainly a huge day for PC gamers. Today 2K Games officially announced plans to publish Sid Meier's Civilization V, the latest game in the mega-popular turn based strategy series. As with the last few games in the series, the new title will be developed by Firaxis Games.

The games official web site has already launched with screenshots and the first bits of info about the game, which is due out in the fall of 2010. Look for larger battles, improved diplomacy, multiplayer support, mod support and more. The game will also use hexagon-based tiles that will supposedly create "more realistic gameplay" (because all of us use hexagons in our real lives). All in all, hardcore PC gamers are being rewarded this year with this game and Starcraft II and perhaps other games that have yet to be announced.
