New guest authors announced for City of Heroes's Mission Architect [Update]

It remains one of the few MMOs that allows its players to create new story contest for its subscribers. Now NCsoft's super hero MMO City of Heroes is prepping to offer its players new storylines and missions created by well known and acclaimed writers. The newly redesigned GamePro web site reveals that three such authors have made new story arcs in the game via the Mission Architect and two of them are scheduled to be made available in the game today.

The authors of the mission arcs include well known fantasy novelist Mercedes Lackey, comic book author Troy Hickman (who actually wrote several issues of the now defunct City of Heroes comics) and Austin Grossman, a novelist who has also helped to design games like Deus Ex and Tomb Raider Legend. His 2007 novel Soon I Will Be Invincible is a serious literary work about super hero characters.

Update: NCsoft sent over word that all three guest author missions are now available in the game and can be found by searching for the titles in the Mission Architect feature. The titles are Return of the Crime Cabal (Austin Grossman), Mystery on the Boardwalk (Mercedes Lackey) and A Little Night Music (Troy Hickman). NCsoft also says that over 62,000 mission have been created by fans of the game since the Mission Architect launched.
