Relic's RTS game Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II was the number two Games For Windows Live Games title while Bethesda Softworks' Fallout 3 was number three. Surprisingly the 2007 released multiplayer shooter Shadowrun was the number four game on the list in 2009, indicating that perhaps the title from the now defunct FASA Interactive still has a strong online following. Unsurprisingly, this list of games is exactly the same list of games that require GFWL, in order of popularity. Duh... 99% of users of GFWL (myself included) wouldn't use it if given a choice.
Steam, Direct2Drive, etc have a purpose. GFWL does not. Forcing me to install GFWL on a retail or Steam/D2D game in order to play singleplayer (Fallout3, GTA IV) is annoying.
Game devs and publishers take note: majority of PC gamers HATE using GFWL. Don't force it upon them.Posted at 9:04AM on Jan 12th 2010 by Cornelius
