IGN picked Dragon Age: Origins as the best PC game in 2009, saying "Dragon Age is the RPG that will keep fantasy fans satisfied for quite a long time." GameSpot agreed with them, saying, "This was a good year to play games on the PC, and Dragon Age is very much the reason why." GameSpy took a different tack and gave their PC game of the year award to Plants Vs Zombies, saying, "Plants vs. Zombies may not push your PC's hardware to its absolute limit, but it's amazingly fun, at what I'm guessing is a fraction of the everyday game development cost.."

I'm glad at least a few web sites are giving Dragon Age: Origins the accolades it deserves, unlike a certain website that decided to give Modern Warfare 2 game of the year for every platform ever made in the history of video games.
I know it's GameSpy's opinion and all that, but choosing Plants vs. Zombies as game of the year is just baffling. It's a decent game, but after I finished it, I find it hard to go back to play it just for the mini-games. Maybe it deserves an award, but calling it game of the year is a stretch.
