OnLive offers vague update on upcoming streaming game service

We named OnLive as the winner of our first annual PC game Vaporware Award for not launching by the end of the year. So of course the upcoming streaming game service has posted up a new web site update today, the first one in a while. However the post is still pretty vague on the progress they have made toward launching their service.

The update, written by OnLive VP John Spinale, states that the launch is now targeted for some time "next year". At the same time he claims that their previously announced launch target time period for "winter 2009" has just started this week. We think this is a tad deceptive. Is the target release supposed to be 2009 or 2010?

He goes on to thank the current beta testing group for their efforts, saying " . . . we have many of you to thank for helping us make so much progress in such a short period of time." Feedback from beta testers has resulted in improving the Friends feature which is shown up above. All in all, this update is about as indirect as they come with no real clues as to how far along they are in the beta process or how much longer will it be before OnLive's commercial launch.
