Steam begins annual (and massive) holiday sale a bit early

Last year, Valve launched their big Steam holiday sale the day after Christmas, with price cuts covering nearly all of the games available on the site. Today they launched their holiday sale a bit early, covering a ton of PC games and lasting until January 3. Just some of the sales include every 2K Games title priced at 33 percent off, 50 off the entire Ubisoft library and 66 percent off all Unreal and Atari games.

In addition Steam will have some extra-special sales for a limited time. From now until Christmas Eve these games will be priced as follows:

Grand Theft Auto IV
: $7.49
Mirror's Edge: $4.99
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising: $19.99
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl : $1.99
Defense Grid: The Awakening: $2.49
