You thought we were done with Team Fortress 2 updates, didn't you? The truth is so did we. But after the conclusion of the Soldier-Demoman war it looks like Valve still has one more trick up its sleeve. That trick happens to be official Team Fortress 2 bots. The bot code came as a result of doing AI programming for Left 4 Dead.
The game's official blog site talks about how you can access the bots via console commands. The programming is still in beta and can only be used in King of the Hill maps for now. However Valve's Robin Walker states, "The bots have simulated humanlike senses, and only know what they see, hear, and touch. They also have realistic reaction times and aiming limitations. They don't 'cheat' or use omniscient knowledge of the server state to make their decisions." If you are interested in learning more about the AI programming, check out this extensive PDF file written by Valve's Mike Booth.
