Interview: Cheyenne Mountain talks about Stargate Resistance Two

What kinds of weapons and items can we expect to use in the game?

When you log in you can look forward to dispatching your enemies with: Grenade Launchers, Smoke Grenades, Hand Guns, Proximity Mines, Sniper Rifles, Gun Turrets, Tok'Kals, Ma'Tok Staffs, Go'Wye Ribbons, Maaynd Gems , A'Tar Blades, The Hara'Kash and more. Soon after launch, there will be additional weapons that can be unlocked by increasing your rank and gaining achievements.

What can you tell us about the settings and maps that will be in Stargate Resistance?

One of the fantastic things about having a Stargate is that it can take you to a multitude of diverse settings. We will take players from the iconic Stargate Command, to an ancient temple and to a domed city on a snowy, ice encrusted planet.

Why did you decide to make the game a third person shooter and will there be an option to switch to a first person viewpoint?

We didn't want to play a pair of arms. Seriously though, we feel that players will have more opportunity to identify with their characters because in third person view you can see the character. Our game focuses on character persistence and progression of rank. You are a member of a team and more globally a community, changing the tide of battle and the fate of the universe. In the future, you'll be able to customize your character as well, and that won't matter much if you can't see him (or her!)

Will there be a single player campaign in Stargate Resistance?

No. Stargate Resistance is a team based, PVP game.

What can you tell us about the gameplay modes that will be included?

The first release will feature a Team Death Match, Capture the Tech and Domination games.

What can you tell us about how the game uses the capture of planets by teams?

Galactic Domination represents the continual struggle for control over the universe between the System Lords and the SGC. Each battle won increases your faction's domination over that particular planet. If the battle is a landslide victory and you completely crush your opponents, you will receive more domination points than if your team barely wins by the skin of their teeth. If the balance in power for a particular battlefield is tipped greatly in your favor then you will receive bonuses while fighting there. If your faction manages to gain dominance over several planets then you will receive even greater bonuses.

What other elements do you think make Stargate Resistance stand out?

I think the most exciting thing is just playing in the Stargate universe! After that is certainly the six different classes, all of which play very differently, and figuring out how to use them together to achieve victory.

Are there any plans to release a beta or free demo before the final game's release?

Currently there are no plans for an open beta.

Will Stargate Resistance be released in retail stores or will it be strictly a downloadable title?

At this time we are planning for strictly digital distribution.

If the game is successful does the development team have plans to release expansion packs on a regular basis?

Absolutely! The development team is already hard at work preparing a free digital content bonus for shortly after launch as well the first expansion. We believe one of the best ways we can support the community is by continually adding new maps, achievements, unlockables and features to the game and expanding the player experience.

Finally is there anything else you wish to say about Stargate Resistance?

Stargate Resistance is a fun game and we think our fans will love it. We are all looking forward to creating additional Stargate games especially Stargate Worlds, and we hope we can commit our resources to it again soon. It's also worth saying that only a fraction of our current team worked on Worlds. That's neither good or bad, just a reality that affects how easily it is for us to pick up where the previous team left off. In the meantime, our goal was to launch a good quality game with the time and resources we had, and we believe we're on track to do exactly that.
