Batman: Arkham Asylum sequel revealed [Update]

The Spike TV Video Game Awards has revealed that Eidos and Rocksteady are working on a sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum. Yep, the super hero action game that is perhaps the best Batman game ever made is getting a follow up.

The CGI teaser shown on the award broadcast showed what looked like a Gotham City that was ravaged by crime and a version of the Joker that is not quite healthy. Batman himself doesn't appear in the video and in fact the title of the sequel is never mentioned. The trailer ends with a URL (www.arkhamhasmoved.com) but as of the writing of this post the address isn't working.

Update: The teaser site has now gone live.

Update 2: Warner Bros. Interactive has posted up a press release announcing that it will be the publisher of the game. Eidos is not mentioned. An actual title for the game as well as a release date is not mentioned.

This sequel was obviously coming after BAA (from the ending, if not the game's popularity), but it's awesome that it's announced so soon.

I was hoping it would be called Batman: Gotham City, and that we'd have, if not the whole city, then a sizable chunk of it to play through.

Im only half way through Batman Arkham Asylum and totally love it. Im just so happy there's going to be a sequel. The orignal game is great but its missing alot of things. Villians and Story Mode is too short. Sure the Riddiler's in it but he should be in the game helping joker taking over Arkham Island and so should Two-Face. And where's The Peguin, Mr Freeze, Clayface and Catwoman. I now suggest they were saving those villans for the sequel.

For the sequel i heard the story is about A riot taking place in gotham city and the joker gets injured. Sounds good to me. If the game's about a riot in gotham city. i don't see how that could go to Arkham Asylum so Asfm maybe your right maybe it will be called Batman: Gotham City.
