With Left 4 Dead 2 in stores for about a month, we imagine things at its developer Valve have calmed down a tad. Some have speculated that a major new content update for their multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 is next on their list. Now it looks like a small patch update to the game (released via Steam) may have leaked out some very odd announcer messages that mention "friendship" and "mercenaries. These audio messages have been heard on occasion by players in game matches.

Shacknews got a response from Valve's Robin Walker who tells them the messages are legit and that "there's something about the way they're used in-game that's meaningful." Whatever that might be, Walker isn't saying but he did state, "So far, we haven't seen anyone on the various forums out there who's figured it out."
