Media watchdog group offers up list of game that are "uncool for kids"

We no longer have the National Institute for Media and the Family offering up their video game reports cards but today another media watchdog group, Common Sense Media, has offered up a list of 10 "cool" games that they are "uncool for kids" to play.

As one might expect the list consists entirely of games that are already rated "M" by the ESRB. Therefore we are not quite sure what the point is supposed to be since all of them are clearly labeled as not being for children anyway. The group does give "T" rated alternates to the games on their "uncool for kids" list. You can check out the list of games, which is a mix of PC and console titles, at the Common Sense web site.

I love some of their suggestions...
Demon's Souls {It's too violent and depressing}.
Alternative: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves {Which has you killing humans out of greed (initially), instead of demons (to save the world), but somehow that's ok}

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony {Sex, Drugs, Violence}
Alternative: Batman: Arkham Asylum {It's fine for younger players to play a game where the villain slaughters everyone on the island, even after you've saved them. It made me sad, and I'm a "hardcore gamer". Plus, wasn't Assassin's Creed II first on their list specifically because "But playing as an assassin who relies on an arsenal of weapons makes the violence excessive." Oh wait... that's Batman}

Dragon Age: Origins This is a masterly crafted but combat-heavy game featuring decapitations and swords plunged deeply into monsters' chests. {Can't you turn that off? I bet there's a mod out there at the least. I'm a little surprised they don't mention The Pearl or the Love Scenes}

And how do they figure that Infamous is a good alternative? You can be completely evil in that game and electrocute innocents...
