Portal co-creator heads to Airtight Games

One of the co-creators of the acclaimed puzzle-shooter title Portal at Valve is jumping ship and heading to Airtight Games. A press release from the developer has announced that Kim Swift has joined the company and will lead a new team that will create titles for "a more diverse audience." Airtight Games' debut title, the third person action game Dark Void, is scheduled for release in January from publisher Capcom.

Smith was one of the members of the team that created the precursor to Portal, Narbacular Drop, while they were still students at the DigiPen Institute of Technology in 2005. The game caught the attention of Valve who hired Swift and the rest of the team members. The team then spearheaded the development of Portal which was released as part of Valve's Orange Box collection in 2007. Since then Swift has helped in the development of other Valve games including the Left 4 Dead series.
