Earlier this week we reported that novels will be released in 2010 based on two upcoming MMO games; Star Trek Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic. However another MMO, Warhammer Online, has already had two such prose novels released. While the game's developer Mythic Entertainment is dealing with more layoffs to its team by its parent Electronic Arts, Warhammer Online continues to hold onto a loyal fan and player base. Those player can now check out the third prose novel based on the game's setting. The novel was released this week by Games Workshop, the owners of the Warhammer franchise.Titled Forged by Chaos, the novel is written by C.L. Werner and deals with two characters, "the witch hunter Udo and the warrior priestess Annaliese" as they join the fight against the game's armies of Chaos. Just a little light summer beach reading . . .

Continues to hold on to a loyal fanbase? Mythic is in the process of closing two servers (reducing the NA server count from 60+ at launch to 4) and, frankly, even the four left (I play on two of them) aren't what you'd call crowded -- to put it mildly. From what I read on the forums, things are even worse in Europe, with GOA's handling of things being universally reviled.
I'm probably going to let my sub lapse, rather then auto-renew in a few days. It's just getting too depressing to log into a game that is so clearly a walking corpse and watching Mythic continue to make things worse with a continuous string of utterly boneheaded moves is too frustrating.
If they have more books in the pipe they'd best get them out fast, while there's still a game left to tie them to.
Very fast.Posted at 10:37AM on Dec 4th 2009 by Myria
