Medal of Honor reboot to debut at 2009 VGAs [Update]

We've been hearing about plans to reboot the Medal of Honor shooter franchise from Electronic Arts for a long time but it looks like we will finally get more concrete info at the Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 12. GameTrailers has just posted up a teaser trailer with the promise of more for the annual awards broadcast.

While the Medal of Honor franchise started the WWII shooter genre trend, the series has been overshadowed by Activision's Call of Duty series in recent years. From the looks of today's teaser trailer the World War II setting is being left behind for a more "modern warfare" take on the series. You can check out the teaser trailer after the jump.

Update: EA has just launched a teaser site for the game and issued the official press release, confirming that the new title will be set in modern Afghanistan. It also reveals that while EA's Los Angeles studio will handle the single player campaign, Digital Illusions will step in and create the multiplayer features for Medal of Honor.
