Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Flee the Parish, Page 2

Stage 3: Cemetery

Setting: While this stage supposedly takes place in a cemetery, it is much like the previous in that the cemetery is merely a minor set piece. Most of your time in this level is spent around highways, and you will also see the first bombing run by the military in this level. This stage is unique in that it has the only optional Crescendo Event in the entire game. The safehouse is located in a home near the French quarter.

Crescendo Event: This stage has the only option Crescendo Event. This event will test your accuracy and restraint, and it is highly suggested that you have melee weapons for it. After making your way through some sewers, you will find yourself in an impound lot with tons of alarmed cars. If you hit any of them, it will trigger them all and summon a huge wave of Infected to come and kill you. Some players like to shoot them all for the challenge, but if you can make it through this stage without triggering them, you will save a lot of ammo and supplies. You will also earn an achievement.

General Tips

  • The cemetery has a ton of supplies scattered around, so make sure to explore it thoroughly and grab everything you can.
  • The cemetery is the best place to fight the Tank, so if you are relatively near it, consider luring the Tank there.
  • The sewer portion is very short but very dangerous, as there are plenty of Infected, you can barely see a thing even with your flashlight, and the water slows you down.

Stage 4: Quarter

Setting: You are now in the French quarter of town, which looks fairly similar to the waterfront. The military has increased the frequency of their bombing runs, so the survivors surmise that they should reach the bridge, jump into the evacuation chopper, and escape. They first have to go through the winding streets and houses first before reaching the safehouse located in the bridge control room.

Crescendo Event: The Crescendo Event here is amazingly easy. You must trigger a tractor to move a plank into place that will let you cross a large gap. It's located at an apartment complex, and all you must do is stick to the corner of the second floor walkway. Even if a Spitter throws acid at you, you can simply move forward a little. Enemies can't come from the top and only come from two sides, turning the Crescendo Event into a breeze. It is worth noting that you can use the plank before it is all the way across if you are good at jumping.

General Tips

  • This stage has a lot of similar-looking scenery, so it's a little easy to get lost if you are not careful. Two of the streets look almost identical, and the path to the safehouse is located right next to a way to backtrack. Make sure you are going the right way.
  • The bar (or pub) always has a lot of weapons and assorted goodies such as pills and grenades, so ransack it on your way through. Don't get stuck there, though, as it's easy to get caught by Special Infected inside the building with little maneuvering room and visibility.

Stage 5: Bridge

Setting: The evacuation center that the military has set up is, unfortunately, on the other side of the bridge. You must trigger the bridge, lowering it into place so that you may cross. This also summons every bloodthirsty freak in the area, and the military are also performing strafing runs to boot. This finale is unique, much like the finale for Dead Center. Once everyone reached the evacuation chopper, you take off for better lands.

Finale: Once you have lowered the bridge into place, you will be assaulted by waves upon waves of Infected and Special Infected. Strong melee weapons such as a machete or chainsaw are preferable, as they allow you to slaughter enemies with impunity while still sprinting forward. There are tons of supplies on the bridge itself, with regular weapon caches allowing you to switch out weapons as necessary. If all goes well and you run as fast as possible, you can complete the bridge in under three minutes, netting and achievement and allowing you to move on to the next campaign. However, nobody must be incapacitated, otherwise it will be ruined.

General Tips

  • Tanks are absolutely killer here thanks to all of the cars they can throw around. Thankfully, if you are progressing at a good rate, you will reach a location with side scaffolding where no cars can be thrown through to kill you.
  • Supplies are always located within trucks, so make sure to glance and see if you need any. If you don't, or it's a minor need, keep moving. That is the mantra of this finale.
  • There is plenty of high ground in this finale, which makes you much, much harder to kill by just about everything. Use the high ground to your advantage. It's mostly in the beginning portion.
  • If not all players are in the chopper at the end, the players that are can and will be attacked by the Infected, including Specials. Perhaps the scariest and most frustrating thing in the entire game is reaching the evacuation chopper, only to realize the other two teammates are only halfway across the bridge and a Tank has entered the chopper while you are low on ammo.
  • It's bears repeating: stick together.
