Rumor: Far Cry 3 confimed?

Ubisoft's Far Cry first person shooter franchise has apparently been successful enough for the publisher to give the green light a third game in the series. Computer and Video Games seems to have gotten confirmation on this matter when they asked Ubisoft's Kevin Shortt (while at a Avatar movie game event) if he was working on Far Cry 3. His reply? "No I'm not, but I know the team are and what I've seen looks pretty exciting."

The original game was developed by Crytek using their first generation CryEngine. Released in 2004, it was set in a tropical island location. The sequel, which besides the name and the fact that it wad a FPS had no other connections to the first title, was both developed and released by Ubisoft in 2008 using their own in-house graphics engine and was more serious in tone with its African setting. So will Far Cry 3 keep that location or move in yet another direction? Stay tuned.

I find it hard to believe that Ubisofts FarCry2 team are still employed. FarCry2 was a pure example of "all hype" and a "slap in the face" to PC gamers. Crytek should've never sold them the rights to the FarCry franchise imo, Ubisoft lacks creativity and game design in alot of their games.

FarCry2 - 50 square kilometers of open Africa to explore, yea right. Get the game installed and its corridored with canyons and shitty and boring driving.

FarCry2 ranks up there as one of the Biggest Upsets of all time in PC gaming. I hope Crytek is proud.

Farcry 2 is the best game (by far) I have played. The realism of the game makes it so good. Everyone above that doesnt like it, let me guess, you all like the type of games that are filled with aliens on a different planet in space or similar rubbish like that.
