Infinity Ward: Modern Warfare 2 PC already outselling Call of Duty 4
In a post on the company's official message boards, community manager Robert Bowling states that while the PC port does have the smallest market share of all three versions of the game, that doesn't mean the PC version is not a big seller. He writes, "The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has actually outsold the PC version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in its first week. Making it the most successful PC version." Specific sales numbers were not mentioned. One wonders how many more copies would have been sold if Infinity Ward had opted to support dedicated servers.

I got this game for $30, it was a sale. BUT I'm very upset about the laggy games with my 25Mb Fios!Posted at 10:42AM on Nov 20th 2009 by Cheesus Crust
I wonder how it compares to the other CODs, especially WoW. I know it aligns more with Modern Warfare 1, but really the question is, has MW2 hurt COD as a PC gaming brand. I think it has IMHO.Posted at 11:31AM on Nov 20th 2009 by YMM
I expected it to sell, but I never expected it to sell more than Call of Duty 4. I was hoping that it would sell, but it would not sell enough for Infinity Ward to be happy about it, thus making them decided to go back to dedicated servers. Guess that didn't happen.
Anybody who bought this game should be ashamed of yourselfs. You coulden't just play Call of Duty 4 for 5 more months and wait for Battlefield: Bad Company 2? I know that's what I'm doing. I won't be buying Modern Warfare 2 no matter what kind of sale goes on or how cheap it gets.Posted at 11:08AM on Nov 20th 2009 by Redmist

Goddamn idiots, way to support consolization. They probably like to use gamepads too.Posted at 12:37PM on Nov 20th 2009 by Unknown
I call bullshit on this.
Looking at Steam stats, MW2 multiplayer has at best peaked on 100k people max. Even if you were to factor in singleplayer which on average is about 50k, that's only bout 150k people. And consider the possibility that about 50% of those numbers are probably playing on a pirated version.
CoD4 on the PC alone sold more than 1mil IIRC.Posted at 2:02PM on Nov 20th 2009 by NightKid
You bought this game and are very upset about the laggy games? Caveat emptor, dude... unless you've been under a rock the last few weeks you knew better. Posted at 2:30PM on Nov 23rd 2009 by Jow
I was laughing at the screenshot of the steam group to "boycott" it then 90% of them were playing it while still in the group. Retards.Posted at 6:44PM on Nov 26th 2009 by Frostbite
