Dragon Age Origins: Return to Ostagar coming as DLC this holiday season
The new quest will return players "to the fateful battleground in Ostagar" where they will "discover King Cailan's top-secret political agenda." Wow. Sounds a little bit like our world has entered into BioWare's fantasy kingdom. The DLC will cost 400 "BioWare points" (about $5) to download. We don't like the idea of purchasing "BioWare points" to download extra content but . . .oh well.

You my friend have just posted a very insignificant comment. First of all, unless you have stolen the game you get two dlc's for free. Stone Prisoner, Blood Armor, you can purchase the other one if you like, not worth it.
Sounds like you played an hour and didn't know how the system worked and gave up.
The story is indeed weak if you haven't learned how to read. You say these days sub par games make money but then you say the graphics are lacking. At least unlike some games it focused on depth instead of fancy graphics.
If you like to play fast paced games try Need For Speed, before posting surprisingly shallow comments.Posted at 7:08PM on Dec 7th 2009 by Uok
Alright sorry when it first came out it was $50 and $65 for the collectors edition. $10 for the DLC and now another $5. So $80 for the game. Other than that you agree with me through and through and yet my post you waiver as insignificant, weird. I guess depth is needless nonsense spilling out of every characters mouth for hours and hours.Posted at 2:09PM on Dec 9th 2009 by joe
Well, the thing is i don't agree with neither of you coz the game is fine and the graphics are fine if you have a pc that can support this game at medium at least another thing is this game isn't worth buying that's for sure but to download it and it's dlc's for free. i mean why not i tryed the game, played it 10 days and i got bored of it though the game was awesome at the begining so ya...you really shouldn't buy it but rather download it for free through some good host such as rapidshare or megaupload so enjoy at least for a while coz the game itself isn't that bad so he who tries it will determine himself wheter it's good or bad ...cheers..hope my comment was helpfullPosted at 7:43AM on Dec 12th 2009 by Archzeus
You're all a bunch of fucking fags. Its the best game ever fucking created. how can't you see that. story's weak? yeah, weak compared to a story woven by a true master, Uwe Bole. Jesus fucking christ, I wish I could shove a bloodied fetus down your throats. Posted at 1:13AM on Dec 17th 2009 by Dumbassess

*ahem*
Ok newfags, listen up.
Dragon Age is a game only for those with the mental capacity and willingness to watch a story unfold from just a normal life (oh how un-interesting) to a life that every choice you make vastly changes the outcome of the story (very interesting. Just adding footnotes for OP)
Sure it doesn't make many noticeable changes in the world around you, HOWEVER, it's called origins. AKA, sequel, just like Mass Effect, and every choice you make will make the sequel way different from person to person. It does have depth, OP, as you can decide to sacrifice a child, a mother, or save an entire tower from certain doom to save one child. Even then you can decide to either save the tower, let the Templars go in and commit a mass genocide, or leave it be. You also have the chance to decide the fate of the dwarven throne, the fate of an entire race (which just happens to be werewolves), the fate of a village... so on and so forth. There are many things that you, as the player, can heavily influence by that useless nonsense you believe is spilling out of everyones mouth.
Dragon age is a game the requires a higher intellect and a much more refined taste from gamers than those who simply want LUL HALO, LUL MODERN WARFARE, and other essential titles that merely require HOLD RIGHT TRIGGER = PROFIT! So, unless you have some constructive criticism, gtfo newfag.Posted at 4:18PM on Dec 21st 2009 by Angeal
Yeeesh! Never thought I'd say this, but it seems like the greater technology gets, the more demanding and childish the world gets.
Personally, everyone seriously needs to take a breather and stfu about every single little detail about how something sucks, and just get on with life as a regular person should. If this game sucks so dam bad, I have but one simple question that most idiots fail to respond to, "WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T YOU MADE A BETTER GAME???!!! SERIOUSLY, DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU COULD DO BETTER THAN THESE MASSIVE CORPORATIONS THAT HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE???"
After that, everyone that is complaining can't come up with a better more intelligent answer.
Here's some useful information that will help "level up" your pathetic minds:
1. DO RESEARCH: Check through the various sites, read the articles, find out what this game will look like if you wanted to try the game, in question, out.
2. Check the ratings: check out every site and magazine that is talking about said game, look at all the ratings (do the math if you can), and not only check the "expert ratings" but also check player ratings as well.
3. Gameplay potential: check the screen shots, check the videos the discuss the game and show in game footage of both gameplay & cinematics. Obviously the people who made are gonna show the game at max graphics and REALLY love talking about their work til your ears bleed.
4. Make your choice: After all that is done, test it out through a friend or a game store (some allow "tryouts"). If you don't like it, DON'T BUY IT! Seriously, no one is forcing you, it's your choice. If you do like, then buy it, BUT don't come crying to us cause you realized it was bad after buying it.
With that said, STFU. It's a game, it's not perfect, there NEVER will be a perfect game!! Cry if you must, but take your tears elsewhere and be a professional gamer, not a pathetic idiot.
I thought Halo was kinda dull & repetitive, but you don't see me bitching about it as if it was the bane of my existance.
Personally and honestly, I rate Dragon Age: Origins an 8/10.
There were only 2 things in it to not like: Every Origin led to the same place (Duncan will find you and you can scream at him all you like, you are joining the Grey Wardens). And the last is the DLC start errors (Stone Prisoner & Wardens Keep has a problem working correctly, regardless if bought or downloaded illegally), Luckily there is a fix for that. Go to Gamespot in the DAO Questions area, look for a DLC question, someone answers with a link to a rar file, trust me it works.
For those that loved this game, try out:
Baldur's Gate series (PC, stay away from console version)
Icewind Dale (PC)
LOK: Defiance (PC or Console)
For those that (oddly) hated this game, try out:
FEAR 2 Project Origins (PC)
WH40K: Dawn of War 1 to 2 (PC)
Sins of a Solar Empire (PC)Posted at 5:50AM on Dec 23rd 2009 by Gyrannon
DAO is definitely THE GAME of 2009 and the greatest RPG released since Baldur's Gate 2 and Fallout 2 (unfortunately the latter game's initial release was plagued by a myriad of bugs). Great story, fabulous atmosphere, great graphics (even though my machine is only able to play this at mid-quality setting)... I mean I could go on and on. Definitely looking forward to the latest DLC.Posted at 4:35AM on Dec 29th 2009 by komisar
is it coming out for 360 for Microsoft points?Posted at 9:06PM on Dec 30th 2009 by ryan
First things first! To all you whiners out there, who are crying about this game and moaning about the “problems” is has like the radial menu giving you grief of some type, the quality of the graphics not being up to your stellar expectations, to the plot being slightly inadequate. I can easily sum you all up and I probably could add myself to this pile, you are all a bunch of spoiled - pampered gamers who have had it too good for a long time.
You are all belly aching about trivial nothings and not appreciating what the game developers are doing for you. All the hard work and effort put into your entertainment, put into a medium for your pleasure isn’t easy. Yeah sure, they could tweak the games to the point that the games meet our ever more increasing expectations, but that would make the time and costs of our entertainment skyrocket.
Game developers like Bioware are a blessing and I say that with pride because I live in the very city they situate themselves in. They develop games with huge potential faster than anyone else. This year they have Dragon age and next year they game Mass effect 2 and Star Wars coming out. These games are all epic and are all developed with high standards and that is why I say Bioware is a blessing because they do that time and time again at a reasonable rate.
For sure Bioware and most game developers could take their sweet time in developing games like Blizzard and pump 1 or 2 games out every 10 years, but then we would all be stuck playing Mario, Quake 3 or Mortal Combat for crying out loud, I hate Mortal Combat.
Yeah, but there will always be someone out there crying about this or that and about the games they play and wetting their panties cause they are all miffed about not having an epic cinematic gaming experience before them or at their fingertips.
So suck it up and enjoy what you have and what will always and evermore be improved on. Your entertainment and pleasure.

Well I liked Dragon Age: Origins quite a bit. I'm an RPG aficionado though so I'm a little biased towards the genre in general.
General Pros to the game:
- Vast variety of choices that actually do affect the world. Or at least the epilogue at the end of the game (setting up the sequel for choices a la mass effect 2 anyone?)
- Fun and large variety of abilities/spells to unlock
- Many options to customize your character, both aesthetically and with gameplay.
- Deep and enjoyable main quests which you will get lost in.
General Cons to the game:
- Typical "fantasy fare" in regards to the story. Nothing new or ingenious here.
- Side quests seem under thought with just postings on the "job boards". Reminded me of exploring uncharted worlds in Mass Effect (dull)
- NPC's leveling themselves. - This is a personal hate of my own. I hated getting characters at a point in the game where the computer picked sub par abilities for them. On the same note I hate how the only NPC healer is Wynne, *spoiler* who if you side with the templars you will kill. Making the game nigh impossible on nightmare setting, unless the PC is a healer.
- Unimpressive graphics
In short this was a fun RPG adventure for me and I had a good time getting lost in it over the course of several play throughs. However, I don't consider it the best RPG i've ever played, and for me, it certainly wasn't the Oblivion killer I had hoped it would be. (It didn't have random caves, or a completely open world for me to get lost in. Oblivion was amazing for me because essentially you could roleplay whatever story you want out of the game, while DA:O is quite a bit more linear. I admit that that is how Bioware does it's RPG's, and it doesn't stop them from being amazing games. It's just something I was hoping for myself.)
Anyways, if you like RPG's and games with deep stories Dragon age is excellent and you will get many hours of play from it. One of the better rpg's of the era, if not necessarily the best.

Their adding another installment to this disgrace of a game? Putting out a sub par game can really make you a lot of money these days. Game play is awful, slow, and visually lame. Story is weak at best. You fight Darkspawn. I'm sure they put some real thought into that name and the person that came up with that name got a promotion. When a bunch of Darkspawn get together they call is a Blight, you know Black-Light. As far as business sense their good though. Make some cool movie previews that don't realistically represent the game at all. Then after everyone buys the game continuously release new content that you gotta have. You already spent $70 on the game might as well spend $10 more on Wardens Keep to hopefully make the game better. That doesn't work so you spend $10 more on Stone Prisoner for the same reason still doesn't work. They drop the price to $5 for the next bogus installment. You say well this is only $5 I've already spent $90 whats $5 more? Then in the end you spent close to $100 for a Video Game. Suddenly it hurts to sit down.Posted at 1:57PM on Dec 6th 2009 by Josh
