Russian patch for PC Modern Warfare 2 removes airport level
Just in case you have been living in a cave for the past few weeks, the scene in question has your player character portraying a CIA operative who has infiltrated a Russian terrorist organization. That organization goes into a Moscow airport and while you either watch or participate they go and mow down unarmed civilians in that level (you do have a choice to skip this level at the beginning of the game). The report also says the console versions of the game have been recalled and will ship to stores in a revised version later with that scene removed from the game.

I'm glad they put it in there. Adding to the game or not, it plays a large part of the story. People offended by this really need to take a step back and think before they speak. This is a first-person shooter. You are aiming at other people with a gun and pulling a trigger, that's the game folks, not one level but from start to finish. The story for MW2 is really close to a Tom Clancy type story and I am sure if that type of a chapter was in a book, we wouldn't be crying about how horrible it is. What is horrible is for the kids most of you are claiming to protect by bringing this to attention are also creating the problem. They will most likely play it anyway, probably see that level and still play it, only now they are thinking about what a big deal everyone made about it and are paying more attention to detail than they would have been if everyone just left it alone. Video games are interactive stories and these kind of stories are also in books and in the news. Unless you want to call into question every medium where those stories are presented then may I suggest packing up your flimsy picket sign and going home on this one. @ #2 - Sorry, I did see that until after I posted. I had to laugh. If you really believe what you said, then its pretty screwed up to be shooting ANYONE. You realize multiplayer are ALL civilians (unless your playing and are enlisted in the military) and that is the most popular part of the game? Not to mention the number of kids playing multiplayer, so in fact, you are also killing civilian kids in MW2, and WaW, and MW, and COD2, and Operation Flashpoint, and Counterstrike, and Team Fortress 2, and... oh, I think you get the point now.Posted at 11:18AM on Nov 16th 2009 by Jake
chill out its a game, thats all i got to say
every FPS game is shooting at some thing, making it civil, military, ect your killing somthing so just chill out its not like that really happend
i dont think they did it to offend people, IW has epic storys and they put it in there for there game
if you dont like it skip itPosted at 12:20PM on Nov 21st 2009 by brett
@ jake and # 5
FPS is combat with Hostiles that are armed and shooting back. I think you guys are the ones that need to step back and think because you're apparently so desensitized you've not realised the difference at all. You both sound like the next people to go Postal in the news. Brett, Shooting civilians isn't epic, it's pathetic. Referring to it in text i.e. books or talking about it in the news is NOWHERE near the same as putting you in the situation Jake so you're the one getting my beefy picket sign slammed over your head to wake ya up. I don't think Brett even sounds old enough to buy it so his comments, lack of experience and poor grammar earns him the 'go back to school, kid' response. Fact is, it's in VERY bad taste and they knew it else they'd have not given the option to even skip it. As a Developer I want nothing to do with a company/game that's going to put this trash out there, not to mention the poor quality of their game. Shame on you IW

Ha Ha, you guys sound like my girlfriend. She doesn't like me picking up chickens and throwing them into the sea (Crysis). I think what you all have to remember is one very prominent point. It's just a game. In reality I wouldn't even dream of throwing a chicken into the sea, or doing half the things I do In alot of games I play. It's fantasy folks, the fact that you can't differentiate between that and reality Is the disturbing thing. And In my experience it's the people who bring up problems like this that prefer to use violence in the real world to get there point across. You know, like when someone draws a religious figure and then has to deal with death threats from people who have no sense of reality.Posted at 1:05PM on Jan 28th 2010 by Brainiac Systems

the level adds nothing to the game, why don't they just remove it globally, and henceforth I suggest it to be called the "media attention" level.Posted at 10:43AM on Nov 16th 2009 by Sam
