Russian patch for PC Modern Warfare 2 removes airport level
Just in case you have been living in a cave for the past few weeks, the scene in question has your player character portraying a CIA operative who has infiltrated a Russian terrorist organization. That organization goes into a Moscow airport and while you either watch or participate they go and mow down unarmed civilians in that level (you do have a choice to skip this level at the beginning of the game). The report also says the console versions of the game have been recalled and will ship to stores in a revised version later with that scene removed from the game.

Yeah, pretty screwed up to be shooting civilians.

I'm glad they put it in there. Adding to the game or not, it plays a large part of the story. People offended by this really need to take a step back and think before they speak. This is a first-person shooter. You are aiming at other people with a gun and pulling a trigger, that's the game folks, not one level but from start to finish. The story for MW2 is really close to a Tom Clancy type story and I am sure if that type of a chapter was in a book, we wouldn't be crying about how horrible it is. What is horrible is for the kids most of you are claiming to protect by bringing this to attention are also creating the problem. They will most likely play it anyway, probably see that level and still play it, only now they are thinking about what a big deal everyone made about it and are paying more attention to detail than they would have been if everyone just left it alone. Video games are interactive stories and these kind of stories are also in books and in the news. Unless you want to call into question every medium where those stories are presented then may I suggest packing up your flimsy picket sign and going home on this one. @ #2 - Sorry, I did see that until after I posted. I had to laugh. If you really believe what you said, then its pretty screwed up to be shooting ANYONE. You realize multiplayer are ALL civilians (unless your playing and are enlisted in the military) and that is the most popular part of the game? Not to mention the number of kids playing multiplayer, so in fact, you are also killing civilian kids in MW2, and WaW, and MW, and COD2, and Operation Flashpoint, and Counterstrike, and Team Fortress 2, and... oh, I think you get the point now.Posted at 11:18AM on Nov 16th 2009 by Jake

the level adds nothing to the game, why don't they just remove it globally, and henceforth I suggest it to be called the "media attention" level.Posted at 10:43AM on Nov 16th 2009 by Sam
