Interview: Maingear's CEO on their revamped gaming PC lineup Two

How does the company feel about Windows 7? Will it help boost PC sales in general and PC gaming sales in particular?

Windows 7 kicks ass. You can quote me on that. It's boosted sales tremendously. Ever since we were the first to offer the upgrade coupon, one of the first to offer pre-orders, and one of the first to ship, we've seen sales swing up and we're attracting an awesome variety of customers from hard core gamers, financial analysts, day traders, moms and dads, you name it - there's a lot of positive energy out there right now surrounding the PC.

What sort of new customer service options will Maingear have?

To be perfectly honest I think we just haven't done a good job in the past defining and communicating the strength of our customer service. So to answer your question I'll tell you the promises we're going to make to our customers on our website.

1. You will never speak to anyone that works on commission. And those who you do speak to about a purchase will have built systems for us, or will be current technicians, engineers, and support personnel. You'll never get better advice than from these employees.

2. You will never be oversold. If we think you may be spending more money than you should for your needs, we'll advise you of ways to save money. Conversely, if we think you may not have configured a PC for the performance you're looking for, we'll let you know about that, too. But we'll never pressure you.

3. For the first 30 days of ownership, we will pay 2-way shipping of your system should a problem arise.

4. You will never have to pay for phone support or labor for the lifetime of the system. There are actually companies that make you pay for this after 90 days.

5. At our discretion, we'll engage a 3rd party service to provide on-site service at no additional cost.

6. We'll always replace failed components with solutions that perform at the same or higher level of performance. Sometimes the age of a system means we can't get older parts.

7. At your request, we will employ our virtual on-site, hardware-based remote diagnostic technology to fix any quirky software issues you may have. And we'll record it if you wish to reference it later, or to ensure your privacy concerns.

This perfect blend of pre- and post-sales support and service make up Angelic Service. It's the foundation of our success and the key to our future growth. We feel it's important to make this information front and center.

Looking into 2010 what do you see happening in the gaming PC market?

More. Faster. Cheaper. Awesomer. Seriously, the SHIFT is just our first step. We have haven't unloaded both barrels here, and we're going to roll with whatever comes down the pipe. Technologies like DirectCompute, NVIDIA PhysX and 3D Vision, ATI EyeFinity, and DirectX 11 are just getting warmed up. 2010 will see these and other technologies take hold and really bring down the house.

Finally is there anything else you wish to say about the new Maingear Shift PCs?

Buy one, you won't regret it. ;)
