Collect 20 Halloween pumpkins from dead players to unlock a hat.



During the Halloween event on Harvest, all players have a large chance or dropping a special pick-up upon being killed. This pick-up, a pumpkin-shaped bucket with candy inside, is unique in that it provides you with guaranteed criticals for a few seconds. This turns killing one player into a miniature killing spree, and in effect works much like the Killing Gloves of Boxing on the Heavy. Kill one guy, kill another, and another, and so on ad infinitum. Once you collect twenty of these buckets, you will get this achievement and unlock the Mildly Disturbing Halloween Hat. This hat, funnily enough, is just a paper bag with a face drawn in crayons on the front, and is rather hilarious looking in practice. However, you can only wear this hat during Halloween, presumably. It may disappear after Halloween as well, but this is unconfirmed.

Those wishing to barrel through this achievement as quickly as possible should choose the pyro class, is it gets you right up in the action and criticals on your flamethrower kills most things incredibly quickly. Other good classes to aim for this achievement with are the Heavy, Scout, and Soldier, as they are always on the vnaguard of an assault. Once you collect 20 buckets, consider this achievement acquired and the hat yours! You can also get the hat from a random drop if you don't have the achievement yet. You can get it again after you get the achievement, once again through a random drop. This may be unintended behavior, but was observed throughout the play sessions.

Scared Stiff

Kill a player scared by the ghost haunting KOTH Harvest.



Zepheniah Mann, talked about in the update page (and a secret page hidden there. Hint: Click on his name), wanders around the Halloween version of Harvest. Whenever a player runs into him, they are scared and run around waving their arms in the air with little ghosts floating around their noggins. In practice, this spooking following the conventions of being stunned, but you can move while doing so, which makes it a little easier to escape players attacking you while spooked. The ghost will travel through the contorl point at the center of the map as well as in a few other points, such as the balconies. Any area that the ghost is approaching will turn dark as long as he is there.

In order to get this achievement, you must simply kill a player while they are spooked by the ghost. The easiest place to do this is in the center of the map, as the ghost patrols there often and it is where the control point necessary to win is located. A good class for this is any with spread damage, such as the Pyro or Heavy, as it lets them wade into the fight to mess up the baddies.

Ghastly Gibus Grab

Dominate a player wearing the Ghastly Gibus to earn your own.



The hidden gibus page on the update gave players a special hat, called the Ghastly Gibus. It functions much like any other hat, but it can be worn by everyone as opposed to being character specific. There were only 10,319 hats given away through the secret page (the date of Halloween, 10-31-2009), but those that missed out can get it from this achievement instead. The hat will unlock as soon as you get the achievement, and can be equipped right away. All characters must equip the hat separately, and the hat stays after Halloween is over.

The easiest way to get this is to simply focus on a player who is wearing the gibus so that you dominate them. A good class for this is the Sniper, as they get dominations fairly easily, and if you are engaged in a Sniper war with someone wearing the gibus, then it is even easier. The Medic or Engineer are also unusually good classes to tackle this achievement, as turrets and assists both give dominations as well.

Costume Contest

Kill a spy disguised as your current class.



The easiest acheivement of the bunch, this has you killing a spy dressed as your class. The simplest way to do it is to just play a Pyro and spy-check everyone, especially other Pyros. Eventually you will nail a Spy with your face (or someone else's) and nab the achievement. There's nothing special to this achievement at all. Just simple spy killing.

Attack o' Lantern

Cause the deaths of 5 players by exploding nearby pumpkin bombs.



The event version of Harvest has another interesting addition beyond the floating ghost. This manifests itself as pumpkins with bombs strapped to the side. Whenever you shoot one of these pumpkins, it deals a large amount of damage to any enemy near it. There is no friendly fire, thankfully, as the pumpkin knows who shot it. Kill five players with pumpkin bombs, and you will get the achievement. This is easiest with a Sniper, as you can simply set up a shot, wait for someone to run by, and shoot the bomb, killing them. Also good on the Scout and Heavy, thanks to mobility for the first and pure bullet capacity for the second.

Note: Funnily enough, killing a cloaked spy with a pumpkin bomb counts towards the rather difficult Shoot The Breeze achievement. This was found purely on accident!
