Final Fantasy XI trailer prepares for the Shantotto Ascension

The newest Final Fantasy XI add-on "A Shantotto Ascension - The Legend Torn, Her Empire Reborn" is available for for pre-order and will go live on November 9th. The new content re-introduces one of the most beloved characters in Final Fantasy XI lore, Doctor Shantotto, who also has a thing for rhyming.

Shantotto was never particularly "beloved" from what I saw - she sent you on annoying quests and was essentially a pint-sized bitch of a taru-taru. In any case, this game is on life support. They waited two years too long before adding common sense changes like solo play, dailies and all the rest. And that graphic engine is archaic. What's really tragic is that FF Online 2 is shaping up to be a soulless rehash with even more recycled content than usual and bizarre changes to the game mechanics. Seeing as how the last two single player FFs also sucked, I'm not seeing a lot of hope for this storied franchise. I sincerely hope I'm mistaken, though.Posted at 6:03PM on Oct 29th 2009 by psycros
