While expected it's also disappointing to hear that Australia's game ratings system has refused to lift their ban on the original version of Left 4 Dead 2. Valve's zombie co-op shooter sequel was denied a rating by the board in its original form a number of weeks ago, which makes that version of the game unavailable for sale in that country.
Valve tried to get the board to reconsider while at the same time getting them to approve a censored version of the game that will now be sold in Australia under their MA 15+ rating. However, the original version, according to the board, has violence that is "high in impact, prolonged, repeated frequently and realistic within the context of the game." The board also felt the game's visuals did not make the distinction wide enough between the human characters and the regular run-of-the-mill zombies. Therefore the original version "could not be accommodated within the MA 15+ classification."

I wonder how long it will take for an Australia mod to come out (meaning one that converts from World > Australia or Australia > World).Posted at 12:05PM on Oct 22nd 2009 by Kevin

i mean the first title was sold, its pretty much the same thing right? this stuff is so dumb, the OFLC honestly is the most distasteful form of government, its lack integrity combined with its poorly executed and often dumb decisions disgusts me, christ, i've seen worse video games graphicly in overall premise. those games are then crammed into the MA 15+ ratings simply because of their budget and media size. importing simply circumvents this and money is pushed out of the country even more.
does this mean i can expect the digitally delivered steam pre-orders downloaded from australia be altered or modified?
i was under the impression the steam service sells from a world-wide platform simply because the western currency, could steam really pull the game? or modify it without our awareness or concent? i mean this big news since the amount of involvement australia because of the boycott incident in recent news?
i mean, this problem isn't really tolerated by most of the gamers in the community, its cheaper to import in most cases anyway. adults shouldn't be victims of such a hypocrital useless censorship of this size, ---- such a big budget title. alot of people have already pre-ordered this, what happens then? i was going to pre-order this, but i'm not paying for my governments long term failures.
avert your eyes from their crys of petty bitterness and total lack of adulthood or proper responsibility
they're just feeding the MA 15+ rating. idiots.Posted at 12:05PM on Oct 22nd 2009 by Adra
