BioWare Austin's work on Star Wars: The Old Republic is looking better every time they reveal some new screenshot or piece of into. Today the upcoming MMO's web site has revealed yet another planet players will get to check out in the full game. This time it's Balmorra, a planet from the Expanded Universe side of Star Wars (in fact it was first mentioned in the Dark Horse Comics series Star Wars: Dark Empire II).
In Star Wars: The Old Republic, Balmorra is a prime location for droid and weapons manufactoring (as you can tell from the above screenshot with the massive ion cannons show). As such the Republic and the Sith Empire would love to control it. We are betting there will be lots of blood spilled in the game over this location.

This game is gonna be off the hook when it finally comes out!
Nice to see that they are adding new planets and content to the game prepping it for release.
I've been following this over at www.hadean.org and am eagerly awaiting the day they open Beta to the public (assuming I was selected of course).Posted at 3:57PM on Oct 16th 2009 by Matt

It's Expanded Universe, not Extended Universe. :P
Technically all the planets so far are from the EU(Ord Mantell possibly excepting, with a name drop in ESB), so it's not a big deal that Balmorra's EU. Coruscant had its origins in the Thrawn Trilogy in the early 90's(George Lucas liked the name and setting and used it in the prequels), Korriban is the EU Sith Homeworld(a title that it and Ziost have both had), Tython is the ancient Jedi homeworld only spoken of vaguely in the comics. I'm not sure if Nal Hutta is from the EU, but it seems likely.
Balmorra does sound cool though, a planet ravaged by war, a stark contrast to Coruscant. I would expect this to be a PvP-heavy world(like the Contested Zones in WoW).Posted at 3:12PM on Oct 16th 2009 by RogueJedi86
