Since those two articles have been released there have been lots of developments. So it seems appropriate to look back now on our previous two articles to find out which games on the list have been revealed, which ones are still secret and which ones we can now add to the "Black Ops" list. First, we will take a look back at the games on our first two Black Ops game lists that have since been officially announced or now known to have been canceled.

Back in September 2008 we thought that BioWare's then unnamed MMO project in Austin, Texas was unrelated to their announced new project with LucasArts. As it turned out they were one and the same. Star Wars: The Old Republic was finally announced just a short time later and is now one of the most anticipated, if not the most anticipated, upcoming MMO games. While it currently has no release date, the closed beta should begin sometime in 2010.

Serious Sam creators Croteam was supposed to make a modern day shooter for publisher GameCock, at least according to our Black Ops game feature in September 2008. However GameCock shut down their doors and it was later revealed that when that happened the modern day shooter project was canceled. However, Croteam has moved forward and is working on a graphically revamped version of their first Serious Sam game titled Serious Sam HD. They are also working on the next full game in the series, Serious Sam 3.

Warren Spector, the head man behind such game projects as the Deus Ex and Thief series, established Junction Point Studios several years ago. Since then the company has stayed silent on what they have been working. Our Black Ops feature in September 2008 speculated that the company, owned by Disney Interactive, would likely not have any Disney character. But we were wrong on that score as just a few days ago it was finally revealed that Junction Point's game project would be "Epic Mickey". And that it would be a Wii exclusive. That means no PC projects from Spector, possibly for quite a while.

Back in our first Black Ops games article, all we knew about the RPG in development at Big Huge Games was that it would be some kind of fantasy themed game. After that the developer was put on the selling block by its owner THQ due to the publisher's own financial troubled but it was bought out by MMO developer 38 Studios. But before that happened, leaks on the Internet hit that revealed screenshots and a trailer for the project, titled Ascendant. It's currently unknown if the game is still in development.

In our original feature story, all we knew is that Splash Damage, creators of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, has signed to create another action shooter title for publisher Bethesda Softworks. Finally we got word around E3 about that game, titled Brink. The sci-fi themed shooter was one of the biggest hits of the show and Splash Damage has since shown the game at QuakeCon and PAX. Look for Brink to be released this spring.
