Stardock CEO doesn't care for Games For Windows Live
Wardell stated he intended for Stardock's upcoming fantasy RPG Elemental to be a Games For Windows Live title. However, he adds that he found the conditions of working with Microsoft to be too hard. He states, " . . . if you want to use Games for Windows Live to update your game, you have to go through [their] certification. And if you do it more than X number of times, you have to pay money." Ultimately he says, "If Games for Windows Live maintains that strategy and they take over, I'm done. I'm not making PC games. I would be done." We don't think that's likely to happen, however, since many major PC game titles have bypassed Games For Windows entirely,

Well, to be fair, Steam takes a nice fat percentage out of every copy sold on their service...and I'm guessing Wardell does the same with Impulse. This seems to come down to MS trying to make GFW profitable, or at the very least, pay for itself. They just seem to be going about it in a somewhat ass-backwards way.Posted at 10:00PM on Oct 1st 2009 by ChimpWithAHandgun
from a consumer standpoint i think gfwl is complete garbage. i dont like being nickel and dimed for stuff ive already payed for. also their software and service are poorly designed. and of course steam takes a percentage of the games they sell. duh. thats business. In my opinion i think microsoft could still revamp their whole system and do pretty well, but they wont because they dont understand their customers, nor do i think they care to. their interests lay with their stockholders, not us. i hate GFWL and avoid any games that use it! It's not even supported in some countries, even though games requiring GFWL are sold there.Posted at 7:28AM on Oct 3rd 2009 by Kossak
yeah well impulse was the most annoying thing ever, it took me an hour to get the demigod demo to run because of the login system it uses, seriously.
if your reading this, go to the impulse website and look at the facepage, tell me, how would you login? can you even see a username form? nope. lucky i wasn't one of those people who bought demi god. so LOL @ you Brad Wardell LOL @ you - ohh noezzzz pretty sure "would be done" if you make another broken RTS
drop impulse, go steam? :sPosted at 11:37PM on Oct 3rd 2009 by Spider
