One of the advantages of having a game tie into a huge media franchise is that you can use other product to promote the game. Such is the case with Star Trek Online, the upcoming and long awaited MMO from Cryptic Studios and Atari. This week, word got out that there's a special bonus in an upcoming Blu-Ray release of a Trek property.

The third season of Star Trek: The Original Series will be released on Blu-Ray on December 15. According to TVshowsonDVD.com people who pick up the first printings of the release will be able to get a code that when used in Star Trek Online gives them an exclusive Admiral's uniform for their character avatar. The game itself is currently scheduled for release in early 2010.
