IGN acquires What They Play parent-oriented gaming web site
IGN is considered to be one of the biggest gaming-oriented network of web sites around. In addition to the core IGN site they also have Fileplanet, GameSpy and tons of fan sites for specific games and genres. However it looks like they want to expand into more mainstream coverage of games.
This week IGN made some moves in that direction by acquiring What They Play, a site designed specifically for parents to give guidence to their kids about games. The site was founded in 2007 by Ira Becker and John Davison, both formerly of Ziff-Davis/1Up.com. Financial terms of the What They Play acquisition were not disclosed.
