Before its release in 2007, Activision released a multiplayer beta test for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Arguably the fact that players were able to play part of the multiplayer portion of the infinity Ward first person shooter was part of the reason for the game's massive success.
Now it looks like Actvision feels no such test is need for the sequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. According to Computer and Video Games, a rep at Activision has told them that there are no plans to release a multiplayer beta for the game that's due out on Nov. 10. It looks like Activision is going to hope that Infinity Ward's multiplayer efforts won't need any public help.
Update: Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has updated his web site with word that there will be an internal closed beta test "among Infinity Ward, Activision, and possibly 1st party partners worldwide." However he adds, "if for any reason we feel we didn't receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect. We would consider pushing forward with a public one, however at this point only an internal Closed Beta is planned."
