One of the cooler features of Team Fortress 2 is the art style of the game's characters. They look unlike any first person shooter character models ever made (at least until other games like Battlefield Heroes came along). Now Valve is planning to give mod creators more access to those characters.
In a new update on the Team Fortress 2 web site, Valve's Mike Booth has announced that " . . . we've decided to go ahead and release the source behind all the player character models, as well as associated animations." That will certainly be a huge asset to mod makers who want to see if they can make their own similar models. It will also allow machinima creators to " have more control over how characters animate in their movies." Look for the updated Team Fortress 2 SDK to be released soon.

by "source models" I'm guessing they mean the hi-poly models too, which means it will be even easier to fake the "meet the team" videos. cool!Posted at 3:44PM on Aug 5th 2009 by Sam
