There are games that are fun to play but also lack originality. There are also games that are highly innovative but perhaps fall short in terms of gameplay. GoG.com's latest entry is in the latter category as they have added the strategy-sim game Republic: The Revolution to its DRM-free line-up.
Developed by the now defunct Elixir Studios, the game was released by Eidos in 2003 after lots of hype. The title, which had the player become the leader of a revolt against a fictional Eastern European country, was certainly ambitious but its innovative ideas got hampered by the complex user interface. However it's still an interesting experiment and if you want to try the game out for yourself GoG.com has it for you for a mere $9.99.
