OnLive beta still planned for sometime this summer

It's been a couple of months since there's been anything official from the OnLive camp. The company, which came out of stealth mode last March at GDC with their ambitious plans to stream graphically rich high end PC games to your TV or any PC (no matter the hardware) was treated with both excitement and skepticism at the same time.

The last official bit of news from OnLive came at E3 where they showed a working demo of their service from a downtown LA condo. Since then there's been no news at all about what's happening with the service. So Big Download decided to contact OnLive's PR head by phone today to get some more info.

The rep told us that they are still targeting the beta test to begin sometime this summer but an exact date has still not been revealed. And what about the actual launch of OnLive, which was promised by the end of the year last March at GDC? Well, there the PR rep hedged a little, saying that the feedback from the beta will determine exactly when the service is ready for prime time. Naturally we will keep you posted on the latest from OnLive.
