Sorry PC players: No Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 2 for you either
Well get ready for some bad news. IGN is reporting (and Big Download has confirmed via an PR rep with publisher Activision) that the Hardened Edition won't be made available to PC players either, at least according to Infinity Ward's community mananger Robert Bowling. We haven't gotten a reason yet as to why PC players are being left (again) out in the cold in regards to getting the same kinds of editions as their console counterparts will have a chance to purchase.

unbelievable no hardened edition either ....WTF?i was at infinitis blog and what was said by a admin guys was at least we'd have hardened ,now i pissed, still buying the game though yeah ha ,but being a pc gamer is like having herpies theses days, sad thing is i paid for it damn.Posted at 1:04AM on Jul 30th 2009 by Todd
I don't like where this is leading to..
Activision and especially the "Call of Duty" Series became big on the PC platform and there are a lot of customers / fans who are looking forward to this game.
But what shall these people think? You rise the prise and you don't sell special editions the same time? You postpone other anticipated PC platform games for a bigger retorn on investment on CoD6.. Do you really want to force the PC gamers to download this game illegally? Please bring back gamers in the position where such cr*p is decided - these marketing-legumes have a really messed up mind.
Be sure that I'll be one the former fans who will sh*t on you new policy and I just won't buy your game until there's a sign of rationality in your arrogant new way of treating your customers.
peace

wouldn't it make more sense to have the collectable editions for PC so that the players on PC who wanted the cool collectables would be forced to buy the game thus making no need for them to download it illegally? I can't wait until I hear the rationale behind this dumb decision.....Posted at 12:35PM on Jul 30th 2009 by joe smoe
No collectors editions and a higher PC price (yes it's listed at $59.95USD vs other PC games at $49.95USD)
Bold move since they cried so much that PC piracy was high in CoD4. I bet it has DRM like Spore did or an account system like Battlefield 2142. A higher price will increase piracy not reduce it.
I won't be rushing to buy MW2 until it's confirmed what protection systems this game uses.Posted at 12:29PM on Jul 30th 2009 by Clips
So, they just decided this crap with no reasons? lol
I want to know who are the marketing manager, this guy are the most idiot i ever seen, seriously.
Now a lot of people who are interested to buy this game to grab these cool packs will download it and spend their money in another game.
What a dumb decision, Infinitwards, you have created a nice atractive to combat the piracy and will make it exclusive for consoles!
GREAT !!! ¬¬Posted at 11:35PM on Jul 30th 2009 by andriel
Tnx but I already have the whole series of Call of Duty... So the first COD is nonsense, the die hard fans already have that one.
And cause PC gamers have more COD (COD 1, UO, COD 2, COD 4, COD 5) it would be better to give PC gamers more. They have played them all.
So be it, activision and infinity-ward are more competitive to consolegamers... And I will never buy another COD if they betray us ..

Well this makes it easy for me, looks like I'll be getting the game for free now!
I was ready to shell out the money for the Hardened Edition but if they're going to leave us PC gamers out in the cold then I have absolutely no problem pirating the game instead. I bought all the previous COD titles and now Activision is going to shit on me like this? Fuck that. Posted at 2:08PM on Jul 31st 2009 by IronFist
I'd be getting it via steam anyways (is it on steam? COD4 is) ... so who cares. But the price at $59.99? If that is true I'd be a little upset.Posted at 3:43PM on Jul 31st 2009 by Royale
Seriously. Fuck IW, and ESPECIALLY fuck Activision.
I've bought every CoD for PC Day 0 since the first, but if this is how they treat loyal customers then this will be the first that I don't buy.
While it still is kind of a burn that we get excluded on these special editions, I can live without the hardened, prestige, overprice, whatever edition... but seriously, SIXTY FUCKING DOLLARS FOR VANILLA?
They must be TRYING to have people not buy this shit on PC. Why would I pay $60 for CoD5, when I can pay $40-50 on a game from a company that doesn't look like they are actively trying to fuck PC gamers over?Posted at 10:58PM on Jul 31st 2009 by ThisIsSomeBull
Activision is CUNTS.
Its like they want to encourage piracy by doing like this. just like a few people above me i have brought every single game of CoD that i wanted... Posted at 12:47PM on Aug 1st 2009 by Hawake
I'm not going to go on a rant about how I'm going to pirate it, because I won't, but I'm sure as hell not going to buy it. They got greedy, simple as that. It's a shame too, this game looked great, and I've been an avid fan of Call of Duty since its roots on the PC. But you give us no special editions and you jack up the price $10 and still expect us to be enthusiastic about buying it? $50 or $0: your choice IW.Posted at 7:37PM on Aug 2nd 2009 by cknblade
I can't believe it! Didn't they learn anything from the non-release of COD3? After YEARS of loyalty, we (PC people) get shafted...again. I can't speak for anyone but me on this, but, I've spent thousands of dollars keeping up with the best system hardware. 60-70 percent of my time spent in front of my rig is spent playing COD, like it has been since the first one came out.
At the very least I.W./Activision could make the PC version come with a dido instead of goggles, so I can actually go fuck myself. After helping make them rich, they at least owe me that.Posted at 7:23PM on Aug 9th 2009 by N8
wtf why not for PC?
If their going to make a special edition, either make it for everyone, or no one at all.Posted at 3:08PM on Aug 16th 2009 by MonkeyFRY
WTF!!
They are not going to give us at least the Hardend Edition!?
I'm not going to buy this game.
I have never pirated a game but now i will do it whit this one!
And i pre-ordered this edition :(Posted at 5:12AM on Aug 9th 2009 by CoDFan
They offered pretty nice shit there thats enough to make me stop downloading games and start getting originals but after hearing this news...
Just like the first guy said, its hard to download a metal box and a night vision goggle.Posted at 10:54AM on Aug 13th 2009 by wanvadder
So neather the prestige edition or the hardened edition is coming out for PC? It's just the "normal game"?
I thought they learned when they didn't released COD3 for PC at all!Posted at 5:45AM on Oct 16th 2009 by COD fan

It is pretty hard to download a metal box and night vision goggles.Posted at 8:42PM on Jul 29th 2009 by Kevin
