The big reason for the revenue jump was the release of the console versions of Red Faction Guerrilla and the console-only game UFC 2009 Undisputed. THQ now expects that they will have a profitable fiscal year. Upcoming PC games for the company during the current fiscal year will include the PC port of Red Faction Guerrilla and the Asian-based online games Company of Heroes Online and Dragonica Online. Apparently the upcoming FPS Homefront and the long-in-development Warhammer 40,000 Online MMO will not make THQ's current fiscal year.
THQ announces huge improvements in revenues and profits
This time last year, publisher THQ seemed to be in dire straits, losing tons of money and causing the company to lay off hundreds of workers and either shut down or sell off a number of their development studios. Today THQ's fortunes seem to have changed. Their latest quarter, which ended on June 30, brought in $243.5 million in revenues compared to $137.6 million for the same period a year ago. THQ recorded a profit last quarter of $6.4 million compared to a loss of $25.4 million for the same period a year ago.
