No Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition for PC users?

It's looking like PC gamers may indeed be denied a chance to own the uber-expensive version of Infinity Ward's next shooter title Modern Warfare 2. Retailers like Amazon.com, Best Buy and Gamestop have all shown on their web sites that while PC owners can order the regular game and the "Hardened Edition" (with behind-the-scenes info, an art book and a code to download the first Call of Duty game) there is no such PC listing for the $149.99 Prestige Edition.

That version of the game, as we have reported before, has fully working night vision goggles. Granted that bonus product isn't exactly game related but it's still a shame that PC gamers are once again not being given the same kinds of opportunities that their console counterparts are being given. So far neither Infinity Ward nor publisher Activision has commented on the reason behind this decision, despite comments from people on the Infinity Ward message boards asking for info. We have emailed Activision for comment on this matter.

Cry me a river. PC gamers have been treated to the map packs for free on WaW, while PS3 and xbox owners have had to pay for both, and I guess will have to pay for map pack 3 while PC owners will again get it for free, and you expect sympathy that you can't buy the prestige edition. lol.Posted at 4:58AM on Jul 28th 2009 by Chris

I greatly concur with you Miles. Heck, that'd be good retribution for Activision / Infitity Ward forgetting where their Call of Duty roots lie - in PC gaming. First Call of Duty was PC only. Complaining about free map packs for PC users is unjustifiable compared to getting awesome NVGs (that aren't really real NVGs), a Soap MacTavish head, and the Hardened Edition in one whole package. The only other NVG that is comparable in price range is the stupid yet Spliter Cell-esque looking "Cyclops Night Vision." To think about it, buying Hardened edition and the Cyclops goggles is more expensive than the Prestige Edition and that leaves you without the awesome Soap MacTavish head to adorn your NVGs on for display.
