New Shattered Horizon screenshots pay 'tribute' to Apollo 11

40 years ago today one of the truly most significant achievements in mankind was made when the Apollo 11 spacecraft landed on the Moon and Neil Armstrong and "Buzz" Aldrin later got out and walked on the Moon's surface. Today developer Futuremark paid a small tribute to that achievement by showing two new screenshots from their upcoming FPS game Shattered Horizon.

We've added both new screenshots to our gallery and as you can see from the close up from one of the screenshots above the developers have put in the Apollo 11 plaque and a bootprint from one of the astronauts. However Shattered Horizon's back story is all about an accident in the future that blows apart part of the Moon, sending pieces of it flying into Earth orbit, including apparently the Tranquility Base landing site of Apollo 11. The game, which has players battling in zero gravity in and around the Moon's debris field, is still taking sign-ups to beta test the game but there's still no word on a release date.
