Fallout 3 has had four mini-expansions available for download (the fifth, Mothership Zeta is due on August 3) but so far only one of them, Broken Steel, has raised the level cap for the hit RPG. The expansion raised the cap to 30 but can developer Bethesda Softworks raise it even more?
MTV Multiplayer put that question to Bethesda's Jeff Gardiner and he states, "I know from the outside this seems like a fairly simple proposition, but doing this could unbalance the game in a variety of ways." While he hints later on that they could change their minds at some point we don't expect this to happen anytime in the near future.

Actually we could have more levels....the problem is with the VATS system and various perks.....try to play with VATS on very hard...its not so easy....the game is balanced..its the perks that kill it....they need to rework the perks and vats.... i love vats...but it should be weaker....1 shot...no refill perks...Posted at 8:18AM on Aug 23rd 2009 by Chris

Characters were already unstoppable killing machines at level 20. Level 30 made us unstoppable killing machines with perfect stats and SPECIAL, regenerating health, and functional immunity to radiation, so no, they can't raise the cap any higher.Posted at 3:47PM on Jul 19th 2009 by Clyde Cash
