On June 25, Digital Illusions and Electronic Arts, with little fanfare, brought their free-to-play shooter Battlefield Heroes out of beta and into full public view. Today the publisher announced that in less than a month the game has secured over 1 million registered players since its official launch.
Since the game's official launch, DICE and EA have been offering players ways to make their characters look unique via the Battlefield Store with real money being used to buy custom clothes such as the Michael Jackson tribute items that were revealed a few days ago. EA has so far not mentioned how much money they have generated via the game's micro-transaction model.

I'd hold off on buying Battlefunds to be used in there Battlefield heros store. At the moment you can use Paypal or a credit card to buy battlefunds. Neither is working. BUT EA won't tell you that. Go read the forums on there web site for proof of other people complaining. If you use Paypal they take your money and give you no battlefunds. I used a credit card and I received no battlefunds and they attempted to charge my credit card 6 times when it should only have been 1 time. EA support is a joke. It's been 6 days now going back and forth with the idiots at EA billing support. They think I got my battlefunds, I sent them a screen shot showing otherwise. I asked for a refund on my credit card, still no reply from EA.
Games is very fun. Just save yourself trouble. Hold off on using battlefunds until the EA idiots solve there problems.Posted at 9:10PM on Jul 14th 2009 by wizofozus
