Eidos denies trying to secure high reviews for Batman: Arkham Asylum

We actually do think that Batman: Arkham Asylum has a chance of being a good game but we don't know that for certain. However, the game publisher's Eidos is being accused of trying (yet again) to manipulate the gaming press to give the upcoming super hero action game a high review score.

The claims come from The RAM Raider blog site, written by an anonymous bloke who says he's written professionally for other UK based media. He claims (through anonymous sources, natch) that several gaming mags actually have the full Batman: Arkham Asylum game but that they are kept from writing their review under an embargo. That's all par for the course actually . . . until the story claims, "If you dedicate the cover of your mag to Arkham Asylum and guarantee a score of at least 90%, Eidos will allow you to run the review early."

Ouch. However, Kotaku has a statement from an Eidos rep who flat out denies that such actions took place, saying " . . . no discussions have been held about review scores with any magazines. In short there is simply not one shred of truth in this article, except for the title of the game."
