Be any number of Queens

Art games live in a tenuous sort of reality, where gameplay must be balanced with statement in order to be relevant to both the hipster and the game-heavy crowd. Queens manages to pull off this balance with amazing grace, Combining malevolently hard platformer gameplay with a severe understatement of theme, Queens is a quick, yet affecting, browser game. Just don't get too frustrated!

Playing a randomly generated queen, you are pushed out of your safe haven into a pit full of death traps by your king. You must navigate to the end safely, needless to say. It's a stirring game, especially with the muted tones and depressing subject matter. What is even more impressive is that the game was made in 72 hours for a miniature Ludum Dare competition. Wow. Give it a play on noonat's site.
