Trine's developers admit game's pricing made the project "a big mess"
However he does admit that the issues with the difference prices for the different versions have been difficult, stating, "We would love to have the game sold at the same price point across all platforms and methods, but these things are sometimes unbelievably complex when there's so many partners involved." So while the game itself might be good, Kinnunen states, "Trine as a project is a big mess;" He adds. "Ultimately it's the game part that really matters and helps us sleep at night, though."

my guess is that they fear piracy, so in their minds getting more money per purchase will net them more revenue and make up for the pirating. of course if that's their reason, then it's completely retarded on so many levels. Posted at 9:04PM on Jul 4th 2009 by Reader
They have to pay Valve for using Steam. If I heard correctly, Valve takes something like 30% of the profit made by any game on steam.
Still, I believe Sony price point for PSN is higher than Valve's for Steam, so maybe commenter 2 is right.
It also could be that, since Trine PC is also being released in retail (which obviously costs more than digital distribution), they rose the digital version price to match the retail price.
Whatever it is, is not buying until a price drop. Posted at 3:55PM on Jul 8th 2009 by Draken

I've played it, but I won't spend more on the PC version when by any and all means the console version should cost more. Game makers have to give microsoft and sony money to release games on their system. On PC they don't have to pay anyone, so why does the PC version cost 50% more?Posted at 5:53PM on Jul 4th 2009 by Steve
