As gamers await word on when the multiplayer beta version of StarCraft II will begin, Blizzard has been posting up more info about the sci-fi RTS sequel on the Battle.net message boards. This week's new fan Q&A is specifically about the game's map editor.
In the last such Q&A it was revealed that the map editor would be included in the beta "but not necessarily from the start." This Q&A goes into more detail on what features the map editor will have including a new scripting language called Galaxy, being able to modify a hero unit much more than in Blizzard's last RTS game Warcraft III and more. As usual there's no word on when we can expect the beta to begin.

Eh, Starcraft's was bloody simple, so much so people needed to get mods just to get the map editor to do what they really wanted. WC3 on the other hand, was complex, and allowed much more than what Starcraft's did. I just hope they find a balance between the simplicity of SC 1's editor, with the sheer customization of WC3s, cause I swear I could barely figure it's editor out...Posted at 8:31PM on Jun 13th 2009 by devilsei

Hurray! I was worried we would not have hero support. Although, I am a bit upset I have to learn another scripting language. I hope it has more high level features.Posted at 3:36PM on Jun 13th 2009 by Buttink
