E3 2009: Dante's Inferno "protest" at E3 confirmed as mere publicity stunt

We pretty much knew this when we looked just a little bit under the curtain at the "protest" outside E3 2009 week against Dante's Inferno. Now the Associated Press had confirmed that the game's publisher Electronic Arts had indeed hired actors to portray the fundamentalists Christians who attacked the upcoming action game outside the LA Convention Center.

On the one hand, it's a pretty interesting move to create a viral campaign that attacks your own product. On the other hand, we wonder how real Christians feel about a publisher like EA creating a stereotypical protest against a game merely as a ploy to get others more interested in buying a product.
