E3 2009: Did EA create a protest against its own game company?

Yesterday we got to see a handful of protesters who were complaining outside E3 2009 about Dante's Inferno, the upcoming Electronic Arts action game set largely in Hell. The protesters were certainly convincing because we now believe this whole thing was a big PR viral marketing stunt.

Consider that the leaflet they gave out has a picture of the Dante's Inferno box art. Consider also that the leaflet and the group's "official" web site look like they were made by an eight year old. Consider that the web site for the group has links to the game's trailer and web site. Finally consider that the web site's address was registered anonymously.

Well done, EA. Well done.
