Star Trek Online targeted for early 2010 release
Atari is putting a lot of their eggs into their Cryptic Studios basket for the future of the company. The game publisher's recent financial report stated that besides their currently announced game Champions Online and Star Trek Online the team is working on other projects based on Atari-owned properties.
Champions Online is now set for an early September release but the financial report stated that Star Trek Online isn't that far behind. The game is currently set to launch in the last quarter of Atari's current fiscal year. That means the game is targets for first quarter 2010 release. Considering Cryptic only started developing the game in January 2008 (after it got the rights from the now defunct Perpetual Entertainment) it will be a very quick development time for the MMO if it indeed launches on its current schedule.
