There were a few game announcements on Friday but one we missed at that time was for Front Mission Evolved. The game is set in Square Enix's mech-themed strategy universe but is actually a third person shooter title and it's coming to the PC and other plaforms.
Developed by California-based Double Helix Games, Front Mission Evolved will have players take control of the massive machine called the Wanzer in both single and multplayer campaigns. The game's official web site has already launched along with the game's first screenshots. Little else about the game has been revealed, including a release date, but we suspect we will learn more at E3.

Color me worried, while Double Helix are decent, it seems all they can make is TPS games. SH: Homecoming was alright, but was nothing like the past entries (most of the puzzles were guess and check wire crap, nothing unique). Instead of a survival horror game, it became what RE 5 is, action horror.
This just screams "Generic AC Ripoff" to me. I love FM, lore and gameplay wise, but its not meant for this style, the fist and melee weaponry will easily be outgunned. Melee in AC was always more of a backup unless you could release energy waves, and even then you'd only rely on it if you had to. There is no real way they can compete in terms of "costumization" as AC has had years to fine tune the system.
I hope I'm wrong honestly, and that this new one will be good, but I can't help but doubt the game, partly due to the developers behind it.Posted at 2:26PM on May 30th 2009 by devilsei
