Some Team Fortress 2 fans not happy with item drop update
One message board poster put it best, saying, "To me, it seems too Communistic (it's a word, google it) - if everyone plays the game and tries their best, then they'll all eventually get the items at about the same time that everyone else does, so it will feel fair." Some have also complained that people can sign onto a TF2 server and then simply go into spectator mode. Item drops still happen even with idle players. While Valve reps have mentioned how they came up with the item drop system for the game so far they have yet to address the fundamental complaints about the system that players have posted on the forums.

I've been playing TF2 for like 12 hours this weekend. I only got one of these new updates for a class I don't even like (Sniper - Shield)
The rest have been duplicates. This update is fucking stupid.Posted at 8:51PM on May 25th 2009 by Jono
Much as I love Team Fortress 2 and Valve, the latest 'fix' has been anything but. I've racked up a ridiculous amount of time since the spy/sniper update went live, and thus far have gained 5 backburners and 2 flare guns, items I already had.
Don't get me wrong, I despised achievement servers, but unless I'm just extremely unlucky there's really no reason I should have a stockpile of pyro items and little else after this many hours of play time. Posted at 1:44AM on May 26th 2009 by James Egan
Valve has a problem, its called SYFS (Shoot Yourself in the Foot Syndrome). Basically they make a near perfect game with a near perfect formula and accidentaly touch it. Thus causing it puff into a pile of smoke immediately. They should seriously just make a game, get rid of the bugs and in TF2's case: finish all the class packs. After this leave the game in a closet and never touch it again.
Since Valve doesn't do this we end up with ridiculous updates like this.Posted at 12:58AM on May 30th 2009 by SL33TBL1ND
