Team Fortress 2 update goes live; $9.99 for this weekend

It's one of the biggest content updates for this game and it's finally gone live. Valve has just update its multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 with the new Sniper and Spy upgrades. It also has the new Payload Race mode with a new map to go with it, Pipeline, and two new Arena maps. There's also one previously unannounced addition; a new community made Payload map Hoodoo.

There's lots of other minor additions in this update. One is the new range of hats that can be used for each of the game's classes. Another is a way to gain access to items other than via achievement unlocks. There's plenty of other changes (the standard sniper rifle now shoots through friendly players, the spy can now use enemy teleporters, etc) and you can check out the patch notes for all of them. As promised from now until Sunday you can play the full game for free via Steam. If you decide you like it, Valve has also made easier to buy the full game; for this weekend only it's only $9.99, a 50 percent cut from it's normal price.
