No OnLive announcements at E3 2009

A couple of months ago, all the gaming industry was talking about OnLive, the streaming PC game service that has the promise of changing the face of how publishers release games and how consumers buy them. Since then there's been little news on the OnLive front and it looks like the company won't be using E3 2009 for any new announcements.

In a post on the company's official blog site, OnLive's chief operating officer Mike McGarvey states they won't be exhibiting at E3, saying "More than anything, E3 is a retail-oriented conference, both for retail platforms and retail publishers, and OnLive is neither." However he adds, "You'll hear and see plenty from us this year in the run up to our external Beta and launch." At the moment that external beta is supposed to begin sometime this summer with a launch in the US this fall.
